The first wave of Social Security payments in October is expected to be sent to recipients this week. This is the first such spending under the agency’s new paperless policy.

The change from paper checks to direct deposits comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March to end the issuance of paper checks by the federal government, with compliance deadlines being Tuesday, September 30th.

When will I receive Social Security payments in October?
According to SSA’s payment calendar, payments are set to be distributed on the following dates:
- Wednesday, October 1st: Payments will be distributed to Supplementary Security Income (SSI) recipients
- Friday, October 3rd: Payments will be sent to recipients who received Social Security by May 1997. SSI recipients also receive Social Security payments
- Wednesday, October 8th: Beneficiaries born between the first and tenth day of birth month
- Wednesday, October 15th: Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of the birth month
- Wednesday, October 22nd: Beneficiaries born between the 21st and 21st of the birth month
When will Social Security payments be sent?
Social Security benefits are paid primarily to older or retired recipients, but are usually paid on Wednesdays.
According to the SSA calendar, if the recipient’s birth date is between the first and tenth of the month, a regular payment will be issued on the second Wednesday of the payment month. According to the SSA payment calendar, recipients born between the 11th and 20th will be paid on the third Wednesday, while recipients born after the 20th of the month will be paid on the fourth Wednesday.
Those who receive Social Security by May 1997 can expect to pay on the third day of the month, unless they do not pass on weekends or holidays.
Those who receive both Social Security and Supplementary Security Income (SSI) can expect to pay Social Security on the third day of the month and SSI on the first day of the month.

The winners of the Supplemental Security Income Check are set to receive payments on the first business day of the month. This will take place on October 1st, 2025.
According to the SSA calendar, the SSI check will be sent on the next dates in 2025 and early 2026.

- Monday, December 1st, 2025 (Checked December 2025)
- Wednesday, December 31st, 2025 (Checked January 2026)
