Wendy’s is jumping on the quarter-zip trend with its “quartership” deal.

“That’s right. We’re sophisticated, we’re grown-ups, we’re cleaning up our resumes. It’s all about Quarterships right now,” Wendy’s said in an email to USA TODAY. This isn’t the first time the chain has tapped into a trend. They recently launched the deal as an ode to the trending “6-7” phrase.

For the “Quartership” deal, customers can order a 25-cent soft drink in any size when they make a purchase using the offer found in the Wendy’s app. The deal begins on December 8th and is available until December 14th.

The fast food chain said the deal was “tailored to the quarter-zip style icon.” A quarter zip is part of knitwear, not a tailored garment.

The company partnered with Jason Gimafi to launch the “Quarter Zip Movement” in his Nov. 5 Tik Tok video. “Wendy’s is officially part of the Quarter Zip movement,” Zimafi said in a promotional video posted Dec. 8.

USA TODAY reached out to Zimafi for comment but did not receive a response as of late Dec. 9.

Quarter zips become a fashion statement for Gen Z

The quarter zip has become a symbol of aspiration among Gen Z and late Millennials, with singer and rapper T-Pain posting a photo of himself in a sweater style on Instagram with the caption, “401k and quarter zip.”

The Quarter Zip video, in which Zimafi and his friend Richard Miner wear the sweater and pass matcha drinks, has been viewed nearly 30 million times as of December 9th.

“We don’t do Nike technology or coffee. Here it’s straight quarter zips and matcha,” Zimafi says. “He (Minor) was talking about people wearing Nike technology to go out. I said to him, what are you doing? We’ve upgraded in life, we’re wearing glasses now, and now we’re wearing quarter zips.”

In an interview with ABC News on Nov. 23, Gyamfi emphasized that “men make clothes, but clothes don’t make men,” adding that it’s important for young men to recognize the unique feel and look that is associated with certain clothes.

“I’m not used to seeing people come to my hometown, a young Ghanaian man from the Bronx, drinking matcha and wearing quarter zips,” he added. “Broaden your horizons in this life, that’s the reason for Matcha.”
