The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers will be playing on their first postseason trip in their full season since 2013, and will face off at American Family Field on Saturday night.

Cincinnati won Friday night, winning the New York Mets’ defeat, seizing control of their own fate, for the ultimate National League wild card spot, and ahead of the tiebreaker. Meanwhile, the NL Central Champion Brewers are scoring the Philadelphia Phillies as they try to lock their home field advantage throughout the World Series.

Cincinnati will turn to All-Star left-hander Andrew Abbott (9-7, 2.80 ERA) and Southpaw Robert Gasser will make the Brewers’ seventh career start in Milwaukee with his first pitch set at 7:15pm.

Noelvi Marte reached the error and led the third top, followed by a double that passed the dive of left fielder Isaac Collins. Runners were second and third, while Sal Stewart put the red up 1-0 from the RBI single to center field.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Ke’bryan Hayes ran the third baseline for the second time with the dribbler. The Reds became one batsman 3-0, and Matt McLean drew an RBI walk against Misiorowski.

TJ Friedle followed with a two-run single, scoring his third run on the second error of Milwaukee’s innings. Cincinnati leads 6-0 towards the third bottom.

The Reds and Brewers traded zeros in the first innings, with Milwaukee starter Robert Gasser working in trouble after a single on the Cincinnati walk and opening frame.

The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 5-1 on Saturday afternoon, and the Mets temporarily led the Reds half-games in the final NL wildcard spot. Cincinnati will take control of their own fate and will be able to clinch the playoff berth on Sunday to own a head tiebreaker directly beyond the Mets.
