Why does a car recall occur? Here’s what you need to know if your car has an open recall:
Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls including notifications for more than 400,000 Volvo vehicles.
Do you want to see if a recall was issued on your car? If the car is not listed below, the owner can either check the USA Today Automotive Recall database or search the NHTSA database to search for new recalls. The NHTSA website allows you to search for recalls based on the vehicle’s identification number (VIN).
Here’s what you need to know about vehicle recalls issued by NHTSA from May 5th to May 11th:
Volvo recalls a vehicle with a malfunctioning rear camera
Volvo recalls a particular vehicle as he has a rearview camera that can turn black if reversed due to a software defect.
The affected models include:
- 2022-2025 Volvo C40
- 2023-2025 Volvo S60
- 2022-2025 Volvo S90
- 2023-2025 Volvo V60
- 2023-2025 Volvo V60cc
- 2022 Volvo V90
- 2022-2025 Volvo V90cc
- 2021-2025 Volvo XC40
- 2022-2025 Volvo XC60
- 2023-2025 Volvo XC90
Volvo did not report any known accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Owners of recalled vehicles can implement therapies via over-air software updates or install the remedies free of charge at the dealer. The notification will be sent by mail on June 24th.

Volkswagen reminds me of vehicles for loose screws
Volkswagen reminded me of a particular vehicle because the cylinder head cover screws may have been improperly tightened.
According to recall reports, the screws may become loose and engine oil may leak through the screw holes. The report states that if engine oil comes into contact with hot parts of the engine, a fire could occur.
The recall covers certain 2022-2024 Q5 Quattro and Q5 Sportback Quattro vehicles.
The dealer inspects and replaces the screws as needed. You will receive a free notification letter by mail on July 8th.

Polestar reminds you of a vehicle due to a back camera failure
This is because Polestar may have been reminded of three specific Polestar vehicles and if they were placed in reverse they could not display the image from the rear camera.
According to the recall report, the recalled car defaults to 3D/360 views by default, and if the back image is not exceeding 10 mph, then it is not a back view image.
Owners of recalled vehicles can implement therapies via over-air software updates or install the remedies free of charge at the dealer. The notification will be mailed on July 1st.
