Demolition of the White House is well underway as part of President Donald Trump’s plan to build a new ballroom on the East Wing site.

Demolition began on Monday, October 20th, with workers starting from the east entrance of the east building. The effort has since expanded throughout the East Wing, which has historically been used as office space for the first lady and her staff.

President Trump announced plans in July to build a 90,000-square-foot ballroom near the White House, but initially insisted the East Tower would not be affected by the construction. However, less than three months later, the east wing was completely demolished.

Demolition is expected to be completed within days, and construction will continue for the remainder of President Trump’s term.

Now that demolition is complete, take a look at what the White House looked like before and during construction.
