The university where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in Utah is scheduled to stay up all night on its campus, school officials have confirmed.

Utah Valley University has announced that it will hold a “Vill to Unity” on September 19th at the UCCU Center. Kirk was assassinated on September 10th at a Turning Point USA event on the Orem, Utah campus.

“This attack lies not only in the individual, but also in the spirit of free expression, civil discourse and intellectual quest that is at the very foundation of our university,” Utah Valley University President Astrid S. Tomeans said in a released statement. “Together, we choose our hopes for the future and take care of each other during this time.”

The event list states that the all-nighter “provides space for students, faculty, staff and community members to come together to remember, heal and reaffirm the shared values.”

The event is open to the public and is scheduled to start at 4pm, with the door opening at 2:30pm. The school said live streams of videos are available for those who cannot attend the all night.

Utah Valley Vigil is ahead of the Phoenix Memorial

The vigil comes in front of the main monument planned for Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on September 21st. President Donald Trump, senior Trump officials and other conservative figures will speak at the event.

Since Kirk’s assassination, the country has seen a series of respect and fallouts, including dozens of people fired or suspended over comments about their conservative personality.

Classes resumed at Utah Valley University

The university began phased return of faculty and students this week, first reopening campus to employees before reopening student services on September 16th. Classes resumed on September 17th.

“This is a critical moment for all of us,” Tuminez said ahead of his gradual return. “Make sure hatred doesn’t overturn the goodness of our UVU community and what we support.”
