Friday is France’s Friday day across the country, and when it comes to how we soak them in their fried potatoes, USA Today readers are overwhelmingly in favor of ketchup.

As Instagram and Facebook votes were shared on Friday morning, 59% of USA Today followers voted Ketchup as their favorite seasoning to soak in fries. As of 2:45pm on July 11, 663 followers were voted, with 59% in favour of ketchup. Surprisingly, “Other” came in second with 15%, while Ranch and Mayo came in third with 13%.

USA Today readers are not outliers. A survey published by Talker Research in New York last month found that 81% of Americans consider ketchup to be the best seasoning for fries. And not only that, but 78% of participants said that the dipping sauce can cook or break meals, while 73% of Americans eat fries with seasonings.

Here’s how to adopt a USA Today poll:

MetaStory polls allowed only up to four options, and voters were unable to show a particular preference when they answered “other.”

What is French Fries Day nationwide?

According to the National Day Calendar, National French Friday, a makeup holiday, is celebrated every second Friday in July. For “holidays,” countless restaurant chains offer customers free fries and promotional deals.
