For the first time in three years, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off in a Super Bowl rematch.

Last season’s Super Bowl team will match up again in the biggest game of the NFL two slates a week. Philadelphia dominated Kansas City for a 40-22 victory at New Orleans’ Super Bowl 59 in February.

It’s been seven months and each team is a little different. Philadelphia is taking part in their second regular season game, following offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s departure for New Orleans. Kansas City’s lacking Super Bowl 59 main receiver Xavier is worth it, but the offensive line has improved thanks to rookie left tackle Josh Simmons.

The Eagles won seven consecutive games in week one (including the playoffs), defeating the Dallas Cowboys 24-20 in opening night. A day later, the Chiefs were unable to match that pace and fell to Brazil’s Los Angeles Chargers 27-21.

Two years ago, the Chiefs and Eagles met in Kansas City following their Super Bowl 57 game. Philadelphia won that regular season game 21-17 after losing the Super Bowl.

The Eagles may move 2-0 with another victory at Kansas City, or the Chiefs may get a measure of recovery for that Super Bowl loss. USA Today Sports offers late afternoon games, live updates, highlights and more.

Andy Reed’s offensive decision will not return to plague him as the chief’s defense is retained. Elliott knocked out a 1 out of 51 yards and gave the Eagles a three-point lead, but it could have been worse. The defensive coordinator is pleased with how this goes.

Eagles 13, Chief 10

The Chiefs start the second half by getting stuffed into the fourth and one, then doing a four and out and handing over the down. It was an offensive decision from Andy Reed, and failed miserably. Kansas City will be giving the ball at the KC 36 yard line.

Hurts has remained all quarterback for the Eagles in 2025. The Eagles are looking for sparks in the second half, but Hurts plays his role along the way.

After nearly closing in week 1, Brown responded with five catches for 27 yards in the first half of week 2. That’s not the effect Brown is still used to making, but at least you can remove the star receiver from the milk carton.

Among those receptions was an impressive one-handed obstacle for the first down late in the second quarter.

There is no evidence that Swift is attending Arrowhead Stadium for the Super Bowl 59 rematch. Swift has been a frequent visitor to Chiefs Home Games, especially in recent years. The pop star was not seen in the Chiefs’ first week defeat in Brazil. This is his first defeat since his engagement to Travisquerce.

We all have a knot at halftime and quickly go back to where we started. Jake Elliott hit the field goal from 58 yards over time in the second quarter, bringing us to a break that tied at 10am.

Chief 10, Eagles 10

Brown limped off the field late in the second quarter. It is unclear how the receiver was injured, but Kansas City cannot afford to lose more players in the already exhausted WR room.

Mahomes is doing everything for the chief of this first half. The quarterback is rushing up to 60 yards, and at this point he’s nine more in total. Mahomes hurriedly added a score to his ledger that day, giving the Chiefs a three-point lead late in the first half.

Chief 10, Eagles 7

Immediately after the score, the Chiefs’ defense gets a shutdown drive from their defense. They force the Eagles to punt and quickly return the ball. Mahomes tries to put the attack into gear after starting a drive on his own 31-yard line after a commercial break.

This was a tough sled for the chiefs, but Backer scored this field goal through an upright standing from 56.

Eagles 7, Chief 3

The first 15 minutes have come and I have the familiar feeling of being a Super Bowl runner-up. Philadelphia controlled the first quarter, scoring seven points and taking the lead in the second quarter.

Eagles 7, Chiefs 0

You can’t contain Berkley forever. The Eagles star lifts the visiting team by a touchdown with his own score of 13 yards. Barkley had no issues finding paydeat on that score.

Eagles 7, Chiefs 0

In the third and first, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles took advantage of the “Tush Push” play to get their first down.

Mahomes and the Chiefs marched into the territory of the field goal. Butker is wide in a 58-yard attempt, and the Eagles are trying to break this scoreless tie.

So far, the chiefs have done a good job of hurting Jalen, and the Eagles’ attacks look uncomfortable. Kansas City will take over its own 35-yard line.

The Chiefs would also enjoy a faster start to the offense, but they can’t get the job done. Kansas City is forced to drive away after a drive where nothing happened. At least they didn’t hurt their teammates this time.

The Chiefs wanted a better start defensively this week, so they got it. Despite a pair of offside penalties that help keep the drive alive, Kansas City descends off the field without causing damage on the scoreboard.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles game begins Sunday at 4:25pm.

The Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles game will air nationwide on Fox. This is the only matchup at Fox at 4:25pm (America’s Game of the Week).

The game can also be streamed on the Fubo and Foxsports apps.

The Eagles star defensive lineman was kicked out of the season opener against the Cowboys for spitting quarterback Duck Prescott and was later fined $57,222, the equivalent of a full game check.

Carter was decisively not handed over any additional suspension, so he is cleared to take the field against the chief. The incident happened seven seconds into the game before the Eagles defense took one snap.

“It was a mistake that happened on my part and it won’t happen again,” Carter said. “I feel bad just for my teammates and my fans. It’s not going to happen again. I made that promise.”

Carter has been the Chiefs’ public announcer for the past 16 years. He announced in a Facebook post this week that he had resigned from his position with the Chiefs.

“So why are you leaving? Over the last few years, the team has made changes to what I’m doing,” Carter said in his post. “When I entered the playoffs last year, they asked me to make a big difference in how I called the game (whether I tried to do it, I tried to do it, despite what I tried to do). As we entered this season, they wanted more adjustments across my red line.”

“Dale’s dedication and professionalism are grateful for Arrowhead’s dedication and professionalism as an inside-stadium voice at Gehafield over the past 16 seasons,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “We understand and respect his decisions and hope that he is the best that he moves forward.”

The Chiefs’ top wide receiver in Super Bowl 59 was knocked out of the team’s opener against the Chargers on the first drive of the game.

Worthy will not practice on Wednesday, and will be restricted to Thursday and Friday, and he will not play against the Eagles.

Worthy’s injuries have been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder, and coach Andy Reed told reporters they’re taking things “everyday” with his recovery. He is not placed in an injured reserve, so he could potentially return to the lineup in week three for “Sunday Night Football” against the New York Giants.

After the first Sunday game ended, Philadelphia sent the fifth and sixth picks in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Jacksonville Jaguars, running Tank Bigsby. Jacksonville selected Bigsby in the third round and selected No. 88 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Bigsby is on an active roster and can take some action against the Chiefs as Backup’s backup Will is due to a rib injury.

Bigsby had five carrys for 12 yards in the Jaguar opener against Carolina. His best year at Jacksonville tallied 168 carries for 766 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
