More than a year after hundreds of family dollar stores closed, the popular bargain store is now available on Uber Eats in time for Mother’s Day.

Family Dollar and Uber team up a few months after Dollar Tree announced they were selling bargain stores to focus on growth.
According to a May 6 news release, Uber announced that family dollars will be added to the store list Customers can order groceries and other products from the company’s food delivery app, Uber Eats.
The announcement is more than a year after the parent company announced that it would permanently close the doors of 600 family dollar stores in the US, months after Dollar Tree confirmed it would sell family dollars to private equity companies Brigade Capital Management and Maselum Capital Management.
Dollar Tree estimated approximately $84 million in net income from the sale of family dollars. This is expected to end by June 2025. In 2015, he acquired family dollars for around $9 billion.
“Partnering with Uber Eats makes accessing essentials even easier from the comfort of your home,” Bonita Price, CEO of Family Dollar, said in a statement. “It goes a long way to expand access with incredible value, especially in underserved communities, to help our customers save time and do more.”
The company said as of February 1, it can now order from 5,000 different family dollar locations across the United States. Dol Tree operates 16,500 stores in 48 US and five Canadian provinces.
Uber offers 40% off orders from family dollars
To celebrate the Family Dollar and Uber partnership, customers will receive a 40% discount on family dollar orders that cost over $30, saving up to $25 on orders.
To take advantage of the promotion, users can use the promo code Family40 when checking out on the app, Uber said.
The coupon code expires on July 4th at 11:59pm PT and cannot be combined with other promotions.
Uber One members also apply to exclusive benefits, including a $0 delivery fee for eligible orders.

How do I order from family dollars on Uber Eats?
To order from family dollars, customers must follow these steps, according to a news release.
- First, open the app and go to the grocery tab at the bottom of the screen
- Search for “Family Dollar” in the search bar and tap the first option that pops up
- Search for items and add them to cart
- We will confirm and track your order when it is delivered.
Promo codes must be added at checkout.
To add a promo code, continue to the checkout window and click “Add promo code” under the order summary. Next, enter your promo code before checking out.
