“Serious turbulence” was taken to hospital Wednesday after “serious turbulence” made an emergency landing of a plane traveling from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam in Minneapolis, with 25 people taking flights on the Delta line to hospital Wednesday, the airline said in a statement.
Delta said Flight DL56 had safely landed at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and met with the medical team upon arrival.
The 25 on-boards were taken to community hospitals “for assessment and care,” Delta said in a statement.
The plane landed around 7:25pm local time, an airport spokesperson told CNN, confirming that the flight had been reused, “due to reports of turbulence during the flight that caused injuries on the plane.”
Minneapolis’ Holy Paul Airport Fire Station and paramedics met the plane at the gate and “provided the first medical treatment to passengers in need,” an airport spokesman said.
“We appreciate the support of all the emergency responders involved,” Delta said.
According to data from flight tracking site Flightradar24, the flight climbed over 1,000 feet in less than 30 seconds about 40 minutes after departure. It then descended about 1,350 feet over the next 30 seconds, data shows.
Shortly thereafter, the plane changed course north in the direction of Minneapolis, where it safely landed around an hour and a half, data from Flightradar24 shows.
