No Brands – Entertainment
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has said he plans to seek a “major investigation” into the celebrity support that Kamala Harris received during the 2024 campaign, without evidence that Bruce Springsteen, Oprah Winfrey, U2 Bono and Beyoncé were paid to publicly support the Democratic candidate.
Some representatives of the entertainers Trump targeted – previously supported the Democratic candidate for the president – rejected rumors paid for Harris’ support.
Trump was posted on May 19th at 1:34am on True Society, where Harris accused him of paying for entertainment, “paying for entertainment” in “deep effort to artificially build up her sparse crowd.”
“It’s not legal! For these unpatriotic “celebrities,” this was a corrupt and illegal way to take advantage of a broken system,” Trump said.
Trump did not elaborate on the investigations he has in mind or the investigations he hopes to guide. The Federal Election Commission does not have a rule that explicitly prohibits candidates from paying approval.
Trump continued in a one-night social media post in a subsequent post at 9:11am by Beyoncé, with unfounded claims, including a rally hosted for Harris in Houston in October 2024. “According to the news report, Trump goes on stage and goes out loud booing to not perform, writing, “Beyoncé was paid $11 million,” and quickly supports Kamala.
It is unclear where Trump got the baseless $11 million figure. Last year’s Harris campaign rejected rumors that she paid Beyoncé $10 million for her support, which began on social media shortly after her October 2024 appearance with Harris.
“Bruce Springsteen, Oprah, Bono and perhaps many others have a lot to do!!!” Trump said in his post.
Harris’ representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Beyoncé, Springsteen and Winfrey supported Barack Obama, Joe Biden and former Secretary of State in previous elections, including the 2016 and 2020 races when Trump was a Republican candidate. Bono has a long history of supporting liberal causes.
Harris’ campaign paid $165,000 to Parkwood Production Media LLC, Beyoncé’s production company. According to financial records reported to the Federal Election Commission. Payment came about a month after the two showed up together at the Houston rally. Beyoncé didn’t perform at the rally, but instead talked with her fellow Destiny children’s group, Kelly Roland, about her support for Harris.
Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, pushed back the $10 million rumors at the time, calling it “fake information” and “a lie” in her Instagram post. “In fact, she actually paid for her flight for her and her team,” Knowles said.
Trump escalates feud with Bruce Springsteen
The Harris campaign, which spent lavishly after raising over $1 billion in just 107 days, paid $1 million to Harpo productions after the TV star hosted Harris Town Hall event and hosted Harris Town Hall event featuring appearances from other celebrities such as comedian Chris Rock, actress Julia Roberts, actor Ben Stiller, actor Ben Stiller and singer Hennifer Hennifer Hennifer Hennifer.
Payment to Winfrey’s production company was made on October 15th, 2024, with a total of two $500,000. Winfrey said the money was sent to employees attending the event, not personally. “I didn’t have any personal fees,” Winfrey said in a video posted to Instagram. “But the people who worked on it had to be paid, and it was the end of the story.”
Beyoncé has given her permission to use Harris’ song “Freedom” as the national anthem for her 2024 campaign. Winfrey, a registered independent voter who previously supported Clinton and Obama, filed a strong lawsuit for Harris during his primetime appearance at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Trump’s focus on Springsteen comes after Trump assaulted the president’s “corrupted, incompetent and offensive administration” on the first show of his UK tour last week, after which he assaulted the president with a rock icon con.
“I didn’t like him, I didn’t like his music or radical left politics, and importantly, he’s not a talented man,” Trump said in a May 16 post on True Society.
