Despite being friendly with Epstein in the 1990s and repeatedly travelling on private jets, Trump said he had “has nothing to do with the man” and refused to visit Epstein’s private island.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyer arrives at US court in Tallahassee
David Markus, Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney, arrives at the U.S. Court in Tallahassee on July 25, 2025 for a second day of interrogation by Associate Attorney General Todd Blanche, the U.S. Associate Attorney General.
- Trump also denied visiting Epstein’s private island.
- Lawmakers and others have led public protests about Epstein’s clients.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said he doesn’t think he’s forgiven Ghislaine Maxwell, a fellow Jeffrey Epstein serving in prison for 20 years as he conspires with a minor sexually abused man and meets with federal prosecutors for further information about the case.
Lawmakers and others have led public protests to receive more potential accusations of the case, with details about Epstein’s clients. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Maxwell on July 24th and 25th, and asked what she could say.
“That’s something I wasn’t thinking about,” Trump told White House reporters about possible pardons before leaving the US for a trip to Scotland. “I’m allowed to do that, but that’s something I didn’t think about.”
Rep. Dan Goldman of D-New York suggested that Blanche’s efforts were to protect Trump.
When asked if Maxwell could trust what he said, Trump was called Blanche and “a great lawyer” and “a great man.” Blanche previously served as Trump’s personal attorney at the New York Criminal Trial, where Trump was found guilty of forgerying business records.
“I certainly can’t talk about pardons,” Trump told reporters before departing for a trip to Scotland.
Epstein was charged with a sex trafficking minor in federal government and died of suicide in custody in 2019 and long before a criminal trial. Trump attended the party with Epstein in the 1990s and flew repeatedly on his private jet, but keeps his distance with a fuss about who Epstein’s client is.
Lawmakers and others who followed the incident continue to promote the release of investigation files for the incident. Trump’s name is reportedly shown on the file, but he said he has never been to Epstein’s private island.
“I have nothing to do with that guy,” Trump said. “I’ve never been to the island.”
Trump said the focus should instead be on other political leaders and hedge fund managers who spent more time with Epstein.
“I’ll give you a list,” Trump said.
