President Trump gives his thoughts on Elon Musk amid clashes over buildings
President Donald Trump responded to his criticism of his “big, beautiful bill” when Musk answered with X.
WASHINGTON – Their division has been filled with insults and condemnation, but President Donald Trump says Elon Musk can keep his golden keys.
“I won’t get things back, I gave him the key, he tried very hard,” Trump said of his previous Doge head. The Golden Key, engraved on the White House insignia, is not a real key, but it represents respect and honor from the President.
Trump and Musk dropped out of the masses this week after a billionaire who worked part-time for the federal government until last month wreaked war on the president’s tax bill, which predicts a $2.5 trillion price tag.
The fight spirals as the pair exchanged attacks, and the two men stopped talking. Trump told reporters on June 6 that he was not interested in reconciliation with Musk.
In a social media post on June 5, the president said he asked Musk to spearhead the Doge initiative and leave the post, threatening to cancel billions of dollars in the federal contract for SpaceX founder.
Trump said he was serious about terminating the government’s contract the following day.
“We’re going to look at everything. I’m going to see everything. He has a lot of money. He’s getting a lot of subsidies,” Trump told reporters on June 6.
Musk responded by saying he would soon discontinue SpaceX’s Dragon Spaceship. He said in another post that without his help, Republicans would lose the House and that the Senate and Trump would not be president now.
An analysis by the Washington Post found that mask companies have received at least $38 billion in government contracts, loans, subsidies and tax credits over the years. Reuters reported that there are around $22 billion in government contracts for SpaceX alone.
Trump says he “doesn’t think” about his ex-Palmsk
The country may be on Twitter about his breakup with Musk, but the president said on June 6 that his focus is straight to a cache of complicated international issues.
“To be honest, I work in China, work in Russia, work in Iran… I’m not thinking about Elon Musk,” Trump told reporters who ride with him at his New Jersey Golf Club.
He also claimed he had no idea whether he would maintain his new Tesla.
SpaceX works closely with the Department of Defense and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. However, the president told reporters that the federal government could survive without partnering with mask companies.
“The US can survive with almost no one,” Trump said. “Except for me.”
