This is not the first online showdown between the children of President Donald Trump and Bill Clinton. This concerns President Trump’s demolition of the East Wing of the White House.
Washington DC tourists are unhappy with the construction of the White House

Donald Trump Jr. slammed Chelsea Clinton on social media after she criticized his father’s demolition of the East Wing of the White House.
On Oct. 23, Clinton promoted a USA TODAY op-ed article on social media platform
Chelsea, 45, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lived in the White House from 1993 to 2001, said it was “disturbing” to see Trump make such drastic changes to the 225-year-old White House without any apparent historic preservation studies or involvement of historians.
“The erasure of the East Tower is not just about marble and plaster. President Trump is once again bringing the wrecking ball to our nation’s heritage while targeting our democracy and the rule of law,” Clinton wrote in a letter to X on Oct. 23.
Trump Jr. responded on Oct. 24, specifically targeting his parents and President Clinton.
“Lol, your parents tried to steal furniture and silverware from the White House…and let’s not get over the intern,” Trump Jr. wrote, thinly referencing President Clinton’s scandal with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. “Please sit down.”
Chelsea Clinton apparently didn’t respond. However, the two are no strangers to attacking each other on social media.
One of the more recent incidents occurred in August 2024, when Trump Jr. mocked Clinton on X over a New York Post article that reported that Clinton was seeking an ambassadorial role in a potential Kamala Harris administration.
In response, Clinton denied the rumors and went after Trump Jr., who believed them. ”
In an opinion piece for USA TODAY, Clinton acknowledged that past presidents and first ladies have made changes to the White House that have “added elements of efficiency, comfort and beauty.” But she said there was no evidence the president consulted with experts to preserve the building’s history and integrity.
“With less than a year left until we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, it is disturbing that such major renovations to the 225-year-old People’s Hall are being undertaken with no consideration for historic preservation and no involvement from historians, and I want to be proven wrong,” Clinton wrote.
