WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has cancelled former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protections, according to a senior White House official familiar with the situation.

The Vice President usually receives security details for six months after he takes office, but former President Joe Biden has extended Harris’ protection to a year, according to sources.

“The Vice President is grateful for their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to safety,” Harris adviser Kirsten Allen said in a statement to USA Today.

Cancellation comes as Harris prepares for a book tour of 15 cities.

The revocation of Trump’s security details was first reported by CNN and the New York Times. Trump signed the memo on August 28th, with security details ending September 1st.

Harris was Trump’s Democratic opponent in the 2024 election. Trump has cancelled Secret Service protections for other former officials and critics, including former national security adviser John Bolton and Hunter Biden, the son of the former president.
