True socially, Trump said after the Michigan church shooting “there is still much to learn,” but that “seems to be another targeted attack on Christians in the United States.”
Two people died, eight people were injured in a shooting at a Mormon church in Michigan
At least two people were killed and eight others were injured in the shooting and shooting at the Latter-day Saints Church of Jesus Christ in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
President Donald Trump said he was described as a “terrifying shooting” in which at least one person died and nine people injured at a Mormon church in Michigan on September 28th.
In the true social post, Trump said the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded quickly to the scene in Grand Blanc, a suburb of Flint, Michigan. The FBI will lead the federal investigation into shootings and provide “full support” to state and local officials, according to Trump.
“The suspect is dead, but there’s still a lot to learn,” Trump said in the post. “This appears to be another targeted attack on Christians in the United States.”
“The Trump administration will continue to post the people, as we always do,” he added. “In the meantime, pray for the victims and their families. This epidemic of violence in our country must end soon!”
The shooting came as hundreds of people attended Sunday services at Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ. Police say the 40-year-old suspect plunged his car into a church before the fire began.
Ten casualties with bullet injuries, including one victim declared deceased, were taken to a local hospital. Police also believe the suspect burned the church.
The suspect was shot dead by responding officers and the fire was wiped out, police said. Authorities noted that there is no continuing threat to the public, but the scene remains active as police investigates.
“We are heartbroken,” Grand Blanc town manager Scott Bennett said at a press conference after the incident. “This type of violence doesn’t happen in our community. We are heartbroken that it came to Grand Blanc township, and we will do everything we can to support our families, our victims and our community.”
