Donald Trump, First Lady Stuck on Escalator at United Nations
The escalator for the UN General Assembly stopped shortly after President Donald Trump and the First Lady stepped in there.
WASHINGTON – The Trump administration said it would cancel Colombian President Gustavo Peter’s visa after Colombian leaders spoke at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in New York City, urged US soldiers to not follow President Donald Trump’s orders.
“We will cancel Peter’s visa due to his reckless and inflammatory actions,” the State Department wrote in a September 26th post on X.
During a protest outside the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan, Peter called for a global army to liberate the Palestinians amid Israeli war in Gaza, saying the forces must be “larger than that of the United States.”
“So from here on, from New York, I ask all the soldiers of the US military not to point their guns at people. I won’t follow Trump’s orders. I will follow humanity’s orders,” Peter said in Spanish.
After returning to Bogota, Peter worked on the actions of the State Department.
“I don’t have a visa to travel to America anymore. I don’t care,” the Colombian leader wrote to X:
Peter, Colombia’s first left-wing leader and an outspoken critic of Israel’s military action in Gaza, has accused Trump of his remarks outside the United Nations of “conspired with the genocide” of Gaza. He also called for a “criminal lawsuit” against a US missile attack on a boat suspected of drug operation in Caribbean waters.
In another X-post after the protest, Peter accused Trump of violating the UN’s establishment principles. “It’s time to go to a more democratic place. I propose Doha as the UN headquarters,” Peter said.
Peter’s remarks came after several Western countries, including Canada, Australia, the UK, France and Portugal, recognized the Palestinian state last week, angering Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Trump administration.
In a speech to the UN General Assembly on September 23, Trump called the Palestinian state to recognize Hamas as a “reward” for their actions.
