Tips for managing food recalls and preventing foodborne illnesses

Tru Fru’s third-party manufacturers recently recalled certain batches of freeze-dried fruit snacks after a customer reported the presence of metal in their products.
Georgia Nuts Company (GNC) has launched a spontaneous recall of Tru Fru’s “Freeze Dried Strawberry & Cream” and “Freeze Dried Strawberry with Dark & White Chocolate.” TRU FRU, LLC officially notified the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday, September 26th, after receiving reports from customers.
The affected TRU FRU products were distributed to retailers across the US, including Albertsons, CVS, Food Lion, Heb, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Kroger, Stew Leonard, Stew Leonard, Stew Leonard, and Target, according to a notification issued by the FDA on Monday, September 29th.
According to the notice, “No other Tru Fru products that are not affected by this voluntary recall are listed on the table, nor are they outside of those listed on the table.” Also, no cases of injuries or illnesses have been reported as of the date of the September 26 recall.
Tru Fru, LLC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on USA Today on Friday, October 3rd.

Tru Fru Recall: Affected Products, Treatments
According to FDA guidance, customers who believe they have one or more of the recalled products should immediately throw a TRU FRU item. Anyone interested in a refund must fill out an online form.
