NEW YORK — Travis Scott wowed the audience on stage at the Fashion Scholarship Fund’s 89th Annual Gala on Monday, March 23. In 2025, the hip-hop artist collaborated with the Foundation to create the “Cactus Jack Design Ethos 101” program, awarding each recipient $10,000 and mentorship.

Scott, whose real name is Jack Vermon Webster II, appeared near the end of the evening’s schedule to congratulate the students in attendance. Scott, who founded the Cactus Jack brand and collaborated with Fanatics and Jordan Brand, acknowledged that “I was going through so much today,” but said that still, “nothing is going to stop me from looking to the future.”

The artist did not elaborate on what prevented him from participating.

The Fashion Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit organization that works directly with students attending colleges and universities across the United States. The foundation awarded more than $1.9 million in scholarships to the Class of 2026.

Scott spoke at a gala on Manhattan’s West Side after appearing at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in Los Angeles on Saturday.

“Thank you everyone for understanding (and) believing in what we’re doing,” Scott, 34, continued. “I can’t wait to see you all in the future (and) I can’t wait to see what you all create.”

The multi-hyphenate remained on stage as the night’s biggest honor, the $25,000 FSF President’s Award, was awarded to the highest-scoring scholar finalist. Clark Atlanta University student Quan Jackson won the award for his pitch for a consumer-driven collaboration between LEGO and the label KidSuper.

Jackson was also named Virgil Abloh’s “Postmodern” Scholar by the foundation.

Ciara and Russell Wilson turn FSF Gala into a cute family night event

In addition to the students who won scholarships, the night’s honorees included businessman Stephen Larson, celebrity stylist Law Roach, and the power couple of Grammy-winning singer Ciara and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson.

The couple’s appearance comes on the heels of Wilson’s new partnership with Amazon to distribute fully customizable jerseys under the 3Brand line to youth teams, recreational leagues and schools across the country.

Wilson and Ciara also attended the event with two of their four children, 12-year-old son Future Jr. (Wilson is rapper Future and Ciara’s stepfather from a previous relationship) and 10-year-old daughter Sienna. The two children looked relaxed on the red carpet, posing for pictures with their parents.

Ciara, 40, told USA TODAY: “Obviously they have a lot of energy, but it’s so nice to see them in a moment like this because they are the future.” “And we want kids to be inspired in a room like this and see what mom and dad are doing at work today.”

But it wasn’t all fun and games for the two children. Their mother said she would return home to finish her homework after the event.
