Tramell Tillman makes history by winning “retirement”

Date:

History has been made!

“Retirement” star Tramell Tillman won the Best Supporting Actor Award in a Drama Series at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14th.

In doing so, he made history as the first black actor to win an Emmy in that category. Tillman, who was nominated for the Emmys for the first time this year, paid tribute to his mother with an emotional acceptance speech.

“I remember what I remember,” he said. “You make time for what you want to make time. Do work, and most importantly, for God’s love, don’t publicly embarrass me. My first acting coach was tough.

Tillman pointed to his mother in the audience, “Mom, when you were no one else, you were there for me, and no one else appeared. Your love and kindness will remain with me, and this is for you.”

Tillman also thanked the TV Academy, saying, “I’m full. I’m humble. I’m honored. And as my mom says, ‘Woo! Look at God.’

Tillman will star as Milchick in the mysterious Apple TV+ sci-fi series “Severance.” This is going to be a big night at Emmy. Shortly after his victory, Tillman co-star Britt Lower, who plays Helly on the show, won the Best Lead Actress Award in a drama series.

“I share this award with the heroic cast and crew.

Tilman spoke with press room reporters and said he was “on the Cloud Nine” and “still dealing with” the historic Emmy victory.

“I am fortunate to be in the company of great actors who have gone before me, like Andre Brower, Ossie Davis, and Michael K. Williams. “These guys, I have been taken to their work for years and I have borrowed them, so I am honored to be in class.”

Reflecting on “the importance of seizing opportunities for myself,” Tillman said, “I said I would never do that as an actor, I said it was a career that leads to a dead end.”

“I just took a chance and learned that there is no guarantee in life,” he said. “But you keep taking opportunities and you keep taking opportunities for yourself. See what happens.”

Tillman also said his mother is “very proud” and “her support means everything to me,” adding, “I am fortunate to have a mother who is supportive, loving and has roots for me.”

What’s next for Tramell Tillman?

Milchick was in Tillman’s breakout role, but the actor has lined up many famous acting gigs since “Retirement” aired in 2022.

He also plays the role of Lena Dunham’s film “Good Sex.”
