Trader Joe’s currently offers its own version of the Byraldbai chocolate bar, but only a small portion of the price.
The “Dupée” or reproduction of the health store of Bailardobai Chocolate Bar, which gained traction on social media earlier this year, is manufactured by Patis Food Group, a chocolate latier based in Illinois. “Dark Chocolate Bars Full of Pistachio Cream and Kataifi” is actually made in Türkiye. The chocolate bar is made with 50% dark chocolate, pistachio cream and kataifi (shredded phyllopestry) and is sold only at Trader Joe’s.
The chocolate bar arrived at the store the week of May 26th. Nakia Rode, the public relations manager for Trader Joe, told USA that chocolate bars are available for a limited time, but customers will be selling “if you really love this product.”
Dubai Chocolate Bar has become a huge hit on social media this year due to its smooth chocolate, rich pistachio cream and high prices. The original bar is actually made by Dubai chocolatiers, but countless brands have swooped down and offer their own, but inexpensive versions.

California content creator Tina Beccali posted a taste test video for Trader Joe’s Dubai Chocolate Bar on Tuesday, May 27th to Tiktok, and as of May 28th, the video already has over 396,000 views.
“I love Kunefe and Pistachios, so I’ve been wanting to try Dubai chocolate for a few months since I first saw it,” Beccali told USA Today. “But I don’t want to pay more than $20 for a chocolate bar. When I saw Trader Joe having it, I went there specifically that morning hoping to find them.”
Bekkali added that he will buy Trader Joe’s Dupet again, and he is pleased that the grocery store chain has made more accessible “sweet snacks” that are more expensive for the masses.
Another California content creator, Sila Adhiningrat, also posted a Tiktok video of her trying out Dupe. As of May 28th, the video had 12,200 views.

Adhiningrat told USA Today he enjoyed Trader Joe’s Dupet but probably won’t buy it again.
“But I don’t choose more than Trader Joe’s chocolate bars. I’ll probably stick to my other favorite chocolates,” she said.

What is Bailardobai Chocolate Bar?
The original Dubai Chocolate Bar is made with a modification of the Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The six-pack bar will cost $120 on the revised dessert chocolatier website, and one bar will cost $20.
The Chocolate Bar, dubbed “Kan Can’t Get of It,” was first released in 2022, and Sarah Hamouda, founder of Dessert Chocolatier, wanted to satisfy Knafeh (Pastry Dough, Sweet Cheese, Syrup) and Pistachio’s pregnancy desire, as reported by the BBC.
The bar first went viral in 2023. Content creator Maria Behera posted a video of Tiktok devouring a gorgeous chocolate bar. As of May 28th, the video boasts over 127 million views.
Countless videos of munching content creators have since been circulating the internet on viral bars (and “dup”). And the brand is taking advantage of the opportunity to release their own versions, including Turkish food maker Ulker ($15 for a bar), New York City-based The Nuts Factory ($50 for a bar), and countless homemade recipes from Etsy.
