A top Kremlin aide accused Donald Trump of being “not fully informed” of the situation in Ukraine after the Russian president said Russian leader Vladimir Putin was “playing on the fire.”
Putin’s aide Yury Ushakov was responding to Trump’s truth social post on Tuesday. The President said:
Ushakov, a former Russian ambassador to Washington, questioned the accuracy of the information Trump received as he was part of the negotiation team Moscow sent to Saudi Arabia to meet US officials earlier this year.
“Trump says a lot. Naturally, we read and monitor all of this. But in many ways we have come to the conclusion that Trump is not fully informed of what is actually going on in the context of the Russian-Ukraine conflict.”
Usakov said he appears unaware of Trump calling “an ever more and more massive terrorist attacks that Ukraine opposes peaceful Russian cities,” suggesting that just watching the Russian strikes is repeating Moscow’s false claims that it is “aggressive only on military infrastructure or a military industrial complex.”
Ushakov’s remarks were supported by Kremlin correspondents – came shortly after Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to comment on Trump’s statement during his call with reporters.
Russia has recently stepped up its air campaign against civilian targets in Ukrainian cities, far from attacking only military targets.
Dozens of civilians have been killed in missile strikes against Russian drones and residential areas in the past few weeks.
Four of the five largest drone attacks launched by Russia since the start of the full-scale war have been carried out over the past two weeks, according to a tally compiled by CNN using data from the Ukrainian Air Force.
At least 14 civilians, including three children from one family, were killed in Russian air force attacks over the weekend.
Funeral services for three brothers – Stanislav Martynyuk, 8, Tamara, 12, and Rome, 17, were held on Wednesday in Korostiv’s hometown in central Ukraine.
Hundreds of people shed tears and filled the town square when three white ffins were brought in. The local music schools studied by the trio nodded to the traditional long bells for their graduation classes at the end of their final grade.
After Russia launched an attack that killed Martinuk children, the biggest air attack on Ukraine, Trump accused the Russian leader of “absolutely crazy.”
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, but something happened to him. He’s absolutely crazy. He’s not only killing a lot of people needed, I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot in Ukrainian cities.
Nausea between Trump and Moscow escalated on Tuesday. Former Russian President and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told Trump’s threat: “I just know that it’s really bad – World War II. I hope you understand this!”
Medvedev served as head of state when Putin had to become prime minister due to constitutional restrictions on the number of presidential conditions that he could serve. It lifted it after Putin assured him that he could become president for his life.
As former Russian Prime Minister and President, Medvedev was once one of the most influential Russian officials, but in recent years he has become an increasingly connected person.
Trump’s special mission to Ukraine and Russia’s Keith Kellogg called Medvedev’s comments “reckless.”
“It’s a pity and reckless comment to take away the fear of World War II,” he said in X, adding that the US is still waiting for a Russian ceasefire proposal.
