Do you remember the mall? They are still there.
For decades, large, air-conditioned wonderland was a place that had a store after a store with fresh new items, a packed variety of food courts, and often a cinema. You met friends there, took your family, saw new fashions, spent the day, sat and people watched.
The mall has been struggling since online sales that does not require retailers to cover the costs of renting space in brick and mortar buildings, but has taken a major bite from revenue. According to Capital One, an average of 1,170 shopping malls are closed in the US between 2017 and 2022, with no new indoor megamals being built since 2006.
However, there are plenty of thriving malls, and USA Today ranks in the top 10.

The winners were selected by USA Today readers from a list appointed by the 10 Best Editors and Experts panel.
So, where did “American Malls” appear on their favorite list?
Mall of America is second place
Mall of America may be the most famous mall in the entire United States, but it has been missed at the top spots in the 10 best rankings.
The iconic building is located south of Minneapolis in Bloomington, Minnesota. Its website says it is four stories tall and has over 500 homes.
Activities at the Mall of America are not shopping. Shoppers can also enjoy the theme park. The Nickelodeon Universe has over 20 rides, coupled with gift shops and food stands.
Foodies can also chew at the mall. There are restaurants such as Rainforest Cafe, Margarita Building, Boncon, noodles and office.
Mall of America is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday from 11am to 7pm, according to its website.
