The UK recognizes the Palestinian state. It’s Starme who is in conflict with Trump

LONDON – On Sunday, September 21, the UK, Canada and Australia officially recognized the Palestinian state and announced the policies of President Donald Trump’s nationals line up on the massive international stage.

The UK announcement was expected after the summer said it would vote in favor of being recognized at its annual general meeting in New York, which begins Monday, September 22, in New York, unless Israel agrees to a suspension with Hamas in Gaza. That’s not happening.

The move aims to pressure Israel to change Gaza policies. Israel says that perception “rewards fear.”

“Today, the UK, a two-state solution to revive hopes of peace between the Palestinians and Israelis, and to revive the hopes of peace, is officially aware of the Palestinian state,” Starmer said in X.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued a statement officially recognizing “Palestine independence and sovereign states,” calling it “part of a coordinated international effort to build new momentum for the two-state solutions, starting with the release of hostages filmed in the atrocities and atrocities on October 7, 2023.”

“Canada is not under the illusion that this perception is a panacea, but this perception is firmly in line with the principles of self-determination and fundamental human rights reflected in the UN Charter.”

Trump opposed Gaza’s perception of the Palestinian state during his visit to Scotland in July, saying, “We’re trying to feed people right now. That’s number one because there are so many people who are starving.” When he was in the UK in August on his vacation, Vice President JD Vance said:

The issue of Palestine perceptions was not meaningfully introduced during Trump’s state visit to the state last week. When it came to the press conference, Trump said it was one of the “small differences” he was blessed with, but he didn’t push the issue onto him. The UK’s pledge of recognition is because French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Arabia intend to convene a meeting at the UN on the topic on Monday.

The Palestinian state is recognized by 147 of the 193 member states of the United Nations. Palestinian territory covers the Israeli-occupied Jordan River, including East Jerusalem, which Palestinians consider to be their capital and Gaza. In July, France became the first G7 nation to pledge to recognize the Palestinian state.

“The urgent need today is the end of the war in Gaza and the rescue of civilians,” Macron said at the time. “Peace is possible. We need an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and massive humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.”

Rowan Nicholson, an international law scholar at Flinders University in Australia, said four criteria are usually required to qualify as a nation. It is a permanent population, defined territory, government, and independence. Nicholson said the state’s conditions are rather strict and are a matter of debate.

Successive American regimes believe that formal recognition of the Palestinian state should come only through direct negotiations between the parties involved, through Israelis and Palestinians.
