Jimmy Kimmel Trump feuds infringe protests
The ABC pulled out a late-night show of comedian Jimmy Kimmel following the veiled threat from the Federal Communications Commission, and now President Donald Trump has called on the FCC to revoke the station’s broadcast license that criticizes him.
Sacramento police confirmed three gunshots were fired at their local ABC station on Friday, September 19 amid nationwide outrage over the network’s decision to suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.
At least three bullets have hit an ABC10 television station, confirmed at a press conference by Anthony Gamble, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department.
Gambling said that despite the building being occupied at the time, he was not injured.
Detectives are looking for a vehicle where suspects used in shooting and gambling have clarified their investigation.
“I don’t know if this was targeted or if this was a random act,” Gamble told reporters Friday afternoon. “But all I can tell you is, they’re going to follow up while our detectives are on the scene and they try to figure out who is responsible for this.”
A day before Thursday, September 18th, protesters protested outside the television station, denounced the ABC announcement that Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show would be “preempted indefinitely.” The suspension follows anger over comments made by the Emmy-winning comedian about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Monday, the September 15th episode.
On September 17th, Nexstar Media announced that it would not air episodes of Kimmel’s show on ABC’s affiliate station and the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr.
The ABC10 Studio is home to Channel 10, a local station KXTV, not owned by Disney, despite the entertainment giant owns ABC.
Gambling confirmed that there were no protests outside the ABC10 building at the time of the shooting.
About 15 demonstrators attended the protest on Thursday for about an hour, Sacramento Bee reported.
