Suga, a global K-Pop Sensation BTS rapper and songwriter, has been released from forced military service in Korea, showing that all seven members have returned officially from enlistment mandatory.

The label confirmed that Suga completed his replacement service duties on Wednesday after he ran out of the rest of his vacation. His official discharge date is Saturday.

Big Hit Entertainment, the management agency for BTS, previously said that no event has been planned for Suga’s release due to concerns about overcrowding.

This is an important opportunity for K-Pop Group BTS fans. The seven singers from the popular K-Pop band are scheduled to reunite as a group in 2025.

Last week, BTS superstars RM and V were discharged from the South Korean military after meeting mandatory services. Jimin and John Cook were discharged from the hospital a day later. All four members joined the military in December 2023.

Six of the group’s seven members served in the Army, and Suga fulfilled his duties as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service.

Jin, the oldest BTS member, was discharged from the hospital in June 2024. J-Hope was discharged from the hospital in October.

In South Korea, all healthy individuals ages 18 to 28 must serve 18-21 months of military service under a conscription system to stop attacks from rival North Korea.

The law offers special exemptions if athletes, classical musicians, traditional musicians, ballet and other dancers are rated as having won the best prizes in certain competitions and strengthening national fame. K-pop stars and other celebrities are not subject to such privileges.

However, in 2020, BTS postponed service until age 30 after the South Korean National Assembly revised its military service law, allowing K-Pop stars to delay enlistment until age 30.

Public debate in 2022 intensified whether BTS members would provide special exemptions from forced military service until the group’s administrative bodies announced in October 2022 that all seven members would be performing their duties.
