Fans of blind boxes and retro cameras collided in early September with a drop in a new, currently on sale miniature digital camera that also serves as keychains.
The Kodak Charmera Keychain Digital Camera Blind Box was released on Tuesday, September 9th and sold out on the Kodakfilm.reto website within 24 hours, Reto Project Sales & Marketing Director Vivienne Tsang told USA on Tuesday, September 16th.
“Die to restock,” one Instagram user wrote in a post about the blindbox announcement on kodakfilm.reto. “This is what I need.”
In the wake of excitement, Kodakfilm.reto will open a pre-order for the blindbox on Wednesday, September 17th at 11pm. Advance reservations can be placed on the kodakfilm.reto website. Customers are limited to one box per order.

What is a Kodak Charmera Keychain Digital Camera?
The Kodak Charmera Keychain digital camera, manufactured by the RETO project, is a miniature digital camera styled after the Kodak Fling, a disposable camera first launched in 1987. Compact enough to fit in a keychain, the digital camera captures both photos and videos and is compatible with micro SD cards.
Kodak Charmera Keychain digital cameras come in seven different styles, but the cameras are sold in blind boxes, so buyers are not informed of what they’ll get. According to Kodakfilm.reto’s website, one of the seven designs is “Secret Edition,” and consumers could get a 1/48 chance. This “secret version” camera features a transparent shell that displays the camera’s internal hardware.
The other six styles include red and white seashells, blue shells, black and rainbow shells, purple, pink, red, yellow and black striped gray seashells, and white seashells in geometric shapes of red, blue and yellow.
The digital camera also comes with built-in digital filters, such as negative film picture frames and black and white filters.
