Images in the Epstein files include Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Richard Branson, and David Brooks of the New York Times.
WASHINGTON – The latest portion of files related to Jeffrey Epstein includes more photos of the wealth advisor with wealthy and powerful people around the world.
The files released by the Justice Department on Dec. 19 are in addition to an earlier release from the House Oversight Committee, which also includes files that USA TODAY received from the nonprofit group Distributed Denial of Secrets.
Some of the records reviewed by USA TODAY include photos without dates, locations or other context. Other records are emails released in batches.
The presence of people in these documents does not indicate that they are involved in fraudulent activity. That could mean they had social or professional ties to Epstein.
The names include former presidents, famous entertainers, businessmen, and former prime ministers.
Here is the list.
bill clinton
Former President Bill Clinton appears in multiple photos with Epstein associates and young women.
In one photo, a woman with her face painted black sits on the lap of the 42nd president. Another photo shows an unidentified person with a blackened face in a bathtub with Clinton. The former president is also pictured swimming with Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Epstein’s who is a convicted sex trafficker and who other women have accused of participating in his abuses.
Clinton flew on Epstein’s private jet 26 times, according to an analysis of flight records by Business Insider.
On December 19, Justice Department spokesman Gates McGavik posted a message to X that included a photo of Clinton in a bathtub with an unidentified person.
“My beloved Democratic President,” McGavik said in the post. “The black box was added to protect the victim.”
In response to the Dec. 19 document release, Clinton’s office noted that Trump had “fired thousands of career bureaucrats” and replaced them with partisan actors, including McGavik, who noted that he previously worked for the Republican National Committee.
“There are two types of people here,” Angel Ureña, Mr. Clinton’s press secretary, said in a statement. “The first group knew nothing and cut Epstein down before his crimes were exposed. The second group continued their relationship with Epstein. We are the first group.”
richard branson
British businessman Sir Richard Branson, who co-founded Virgin Group in 1970, is pictured posing barefoot with Epstein in front of a cabana.
In another photo, Branson appeared under a beach awning wearing a pink T-shirt. He is smiling and holding up a notebook with notes, while Epstein walks behind him without looking at the camera.
USA TODAY has reached out to Branson’s company for comment.
mick jagger
Sir Mick Jagger, one of the founding members of the Rolling Stones, also appears in the file. In one photo, Jagger, Epstein and another man are seated around a table.
Another photo shows Mr. Jagger and Mr. Clinton standing with a woman with her face painted in black standing between them. It is not clear why the woman’s face was edited.
Mr. Epstein mentioned Mr. Jagger in a series of emails with third parties on January 30, 2011, records show. “You can find out if Mick Jagger and other people are in town,” he says. “I recommend leaving it until Monday night. You should have no trouble finding someone who wants it.”
USA TODAY reached out to the Jaguars’ team via social media.
woody allen
Film director Woody Allen appears in multiple photos with Epstein. In one photo, he is sitting in the director’s chair talking to Epstein, who is standing. The photo was taken from a distance using a nearby entrance.
In another photo, Allen is seated across from a smiling Epstein on a dining table with a water glass and tea cup in front of him. A blonde woman, her face hidden, sits between them.
USA TODAY has reached out to Allen’s representatives for comment.
Ehud Barak
The former Israeli prime minister was pictured with Epstein, Woody Allen and magician David Blaine in a photo released on Thursday, December 18th. In the undated photo, the men were gathered around a dining table.
Previously released emails show a friendship between Mr. Epstein and Mr. Barak that lasted from 2005 to 2017 and included various meetings, discussions about foreign policy, and visits by Mr. Barak to Mr. Epstein’s residence.
Mr. Barak said he “deeply regrets” his relationship with Mr. Epstein.
noam chomsky
Renowned linguist and philosopher Noam Chomsky was pictured sitting next to Epstein on the plane. It’s not clear which plane they were on, but Epstein usually flew on the now-infamous private jet that some nicknamed the Lolita Express.
In a September 2015 email, Chomsky discusses an article about religion with Epstein and astronomer Lawrence Knauss, and there are several other emails in which Epstein and Chomsky discuss news articles and other academic topics.
In a June 2016 email, Chomsky told Epstein about his wife Valeria’s plans to travel to Brazil. “The Caribbean is close to Brazil, and you are always welcome if you wish. Valeria will meet you there,” Epstein replied.
Chomsky replied, “I still want to go to the Caribbean, but it looks like I’ll have to wait.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Chomsky’s media representative for comment.
david brooks
New York Times columnist David Brooks posted a photo of himself eating a meal and drinking a drink on Thursday, December 18th. These photos sit alongside the 2011 Billionaires’ Dinner, which included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla founder Elon Musk.
Brooks published a column on Nov. 21 saying he was not interested in the Epstein case because it is rooted in the QAnon conspiracy theory and the idea that a circle of elite pedophiles runs the government.
He also took issue with California Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, who used the term “Epstein class” to refer to sex offenders and their associates and led the Epstein File Transparency Act in the House. “Say what you like about our financial, educational, nonprofit, and political elites, but they are not gang rapists,” he wrote.
USA TODAY has reached out to Brooks for comment. The New York Times told The Daily Beast that attending the 2011 event was part of Brooks’ job, and that Brooks “had no contact with[Epstein]before or after attending this single large dinner.”
david blaine
The undated photo shows magician and performer David Blaine standing at the end of a table where Epstein, Barak and Allen were gathered. The context is unclear, but it appears to be a card trick.
Blaine was included in an email chain with Epstein on November 10, 2016.
“Dinner with a tree-like sun?” Epstein asks.
“Great,” Blaine replied.
USA TODAY has reached out to Blaine’s representatives for comment.
bill gates
A photo in the file shows Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates alongside Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Although the context is not clear, both men are wearing suits.
In another photo, Gates stands in front of a small jet on the tarmac with one of Epstein’s pilots, Larry Viskosky.
Gates flew on Epstein’s private jet from Teterboro, New Jersey, to Cat Island in the Bahamas on March 1, 2013, according to flight records analyzed by Business Insider.
Mr. Gates told the Wall Street Journal that he met with Mr. Epstein to seek support for his global philanthropy, which he said in hindsight was “utterly foolish.”
