Car buyers paid a record average of $50,326 for a new car in December 2025, according to Kelley Blue Book. The group said the average price of a new car rose 0.8% in December compared to November’s average price of $49,814.
The best-selling car in 2025 remains the Ford F-Series, with 828,832 units sold.
According to Edmunds, the average price of a three-year-old used car in the third quarter of 2025 was $31,067. The average used car cost $19,189 in 2016, according to the organization.
Also, according to Experian, the average payment for a new car in the third quarter of 2025 was $748, and the average payment for a used car was $532. According to the group, the average payment for a new car in 2016 was $506.
