The odds of winning Powerball and Mega Millions are not in your favor
The odds of winning the jackpot with Mega Millions or Powerball are approximately 1 in 292 million. Here, we will introduce things that are more likely to be obtained than large sums of money.
A lucky lottery ticket in Texas remains unclaimed, putting a $78 million jackpot at risk, state lottery officials said.
The winning ticket was sold at Gordon’s Bait and Tackle in Brownsville and matched the Texas Lottery drawing numbers for Saturday, Nov. 15, according to a news release from Texas Lottery officials. Officials said the winning numbers were 7-17-23-28-39-48.
Lottery officials said the winning ticket would have a pre-tax cash payout of $43.6 million.
“We are thrilled that one lucky player purchased the winning ticket for this much-anticipated Loto Texas jackpot win, which is one of the largest in the history of the game,” Courtney Arbor, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, said in a statement.
How long does the winner have to collect the $78 million prize?
If the winner does not claim the prize, the Lotto Texas ticket will expire on May 14, 2026. According to lottery officials, players have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes.
The Nov. 15 jackpot was the sixth largest in Lotto Texas history, officials said. The jackpot win was originally advertised as a $5 million prize for the Feb. 19 drawing, but the game stretched to a record 116 draws until the Nov. 15 lucky ticket.
“We look forward to meeting and congratulating the winners as they come forward to win their awards,” Arbor said.
