Some Starbucks customers are disappointed with the release of the Bearista cups, which appear to have sold out quickly across the United States.

The 20-ounce glass cup, which retails for $29.95 in stores, is part of Starbucks’ holiday product line, which launched on Thursday, November 6th.

Shaped like a teddy bear, the cup also comes with a green Starbucks stocking cap and straw.

There’s usually a lot of hype around the launch of Starbucks’ holiday menus and collections, but some people were disappointed that the Bearista Cup wasn’t available. Some said they arrived at the store before sunrise to try and get their hands on one.

“This was a waste of time,” one person commented on Starbucks’ Instagram. “Bearista sold out before the store opened, and there were only about two Bearistas in other stores.”

Are Starbucks Bearista cups sold out?

Starbucks confirmed in a statement that the Bearista Cup is sold out.

“Excitement about our product has exceeded even our wildest expectations, and even though we shipped more Bearista Cups to coffeehouses than almost any other product this holiday season, the Bearista Cup and several other products sold out quickly,” the statement said.

It’s unclear whether the cups will be restocked by the end of the holiday season. USA TODAY has requested further information from Starbucks.

“I really want to give you money, but I think everyone won’t like it.”

On Instagram, Starbucks was flooded with comments from customers about the shortage.

“This is a petition to re-release the Bear Cup,” said one person, while another quipped: “I would love to give you money but I guess people don’t want it.”

One user said, “It’s such a shame that a big company like Starbucks releases a new collection that obviously creates hype and inevitably dissatisfaction.” “We are sorry, but this disappointment has real implications. There are many options, but many of us feel let down.”

On Instagram and TikTok, some people said they arrived at the store before dawn to be the first to get their hands on a cup.

“People camped out all night and couldn’t even get their hands on it,” one source said on Instagram, adding: “Don’t promote it too much when people don’t even have the option to actually buy it. It’s counterproductive to what you’d expect.”

Some videos on social media showed people getting angry at employees and becoming aggressive with other customers over cups.

Some people don’t understand the hype.

Others, however, took to social media to discourage people from searching for the cup.

“This is a fad/trend that will be over in a few months. You’ll be seeing it in thrift stores by summer,” one person wrote on Reddit.

Another replied: “It literally just looks like one of those bear-shaped honey containers lol. I don’t get the hype.”

Some people have accidentally broken the cup, which is fragile because it is made of glass. Some suggested similar alternatives from other retailers such as Amazon.
