Suspects charged with “targeted” shooting by Minnesota Sen.
Vance Boelter faces six charges, including murder and stalking, after being told he had “targeted” two Minnesota state legislators at his home.
Washington – The backlash began after several posts on X.
A day after Minnesota Democratic state Sen. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed in their home on June 14th, Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee pretended that their assassination would lead to a political leftist.
“This is what happens, when Marxists don’t give way,” he wrote in his personal X account in the image of suspect Vance Bolter. In a follow-up tweet, he wrote, “The Nightmare of Waltz Street.”
Minnesota Democratic Sen. Tina Smith and Hortman’s friend Tina Smith later confronted Lee at Capitol.
“I wanted him to approach him from a respectful position and to understand what I was thinking. He didn’t have that much.
“He’s spreading that misinformation to show that somehow this is some sort of Marxist leftist attack that causes violence. He should fix it.
According to the Associated Press, Bolter’s friend described him as a devout Christian who attended President Donald Trump’s campaign rally. He was registered to vote as a Republican in 2004 while he was resident in Oklahoma, the outlet reported.
Refusing to answer reporters’ questions about his controversial posts and conversations with Smith, Lee took revenge from the entire aisle.
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer wrote that he was “fed up” to see Lee assassinate using the assassination, “take cheap political shots, risking escalating dangerous moments, and incite a flame of lies.”
Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele wrote Lee to Lee for X.
Belter, who was allegedly disguised as a law enforcement officer during the attack, was arrested on June 15th after a fierce manhunt and faced both state and federal murder charges. Waltz says the attack is “politically motivated.”
