Oreo Maker sues Aldi over suspected copycat package
Oreo Maker and Snack giant Mondelez are suing grocery chain Aldi over allegations that the chain’s store-branded products are “blatantly copying” famous cookies.
No Brands – News Value
Inspired by Selena Gomez, Oreos has officially made its appearance in store.
The limited edition Selena Gomez Oreo cookie is inspired by her love for Horchata, according to Oreo, with a layer of chocolate and cinnamon flavored cream on top of a layer of sweetened, condensed milk-flavored cream with cinnamon sugar inclusions.
According to the cookie brand, the new flavor “connects Serena’s passion and fandom to one delicious, dunkable bite.”
In addition to cookies, Gomez has also created six unique embossed designs with fans in mind, including one that spells “Selenator.” It also features one exclusive cookie found in about three packs featuring Gomez’s signature, making it the first time Oreo has signed a cookie, the company said.
“It was a lot of fun making my own Oreo cookies. I grew up loving them, so being part of the process was a full-sale moment,” Gomez said in a news release. “I wanted to find a way that felt solace from my childhood and had a bit of nostalgia. The cinnamon flavor gives this Horchata vibe and I look forward to seeing fans try it.”
When and where can I get Serena Gomez Oreos?
Limited edition cookies will be available on Presale in the US starting June 2nd at www.oreo.com/unwrapthecollab. They will begin rolling out at retailers nationwide from June 9th, and will only be available while supplies last are limited.
Cookies will also be available in Canada and Brazil on June 9th, and Australian and New Zealand fans will be available on June 17th.
“Serena’s world, her cultural roots, her loyal fanbase, and her musical journeys drive the Oreo brand’s cultural relevance and playful personality to new heights,” said Michel Deignan, US vice president of Oreo. “This collaboration embodies our commitment to please consumers in unexpected ways and establishes a more footprint in the music industry.”
