The lines for Trader Joe’s latest mini canvas tote bags have sparked a Black Friday-like frenzy.

The grocery chain launched a $2.99 Halloween-themed bag on Wednesday, October 8th. The product is available in several design options, including all-purple, all-black, all-orange, and multi-color versions.

Video obtained by USA TODAY shows lines forming around the corners of several Trader Joe’s stores, with some customers waiting in line before 7 a.m.

In one clip, an employee lays out a ground rule for eager shoppers: “So we’re only allowed…one of each color per person.”

Videos on TikTok show people showing off their bags to their followers. One creator said his store has a “10 bag limit.”

Trader Joe’s mini canvas tote bags are a popular item.

Trader Joe’s mini totes quickly became popular with customers last year.

Widely circulated videos show long lines and chaos inside grocery stores as people rush to grab bags from displays.

Its popularity has led people to resell the items for $500 or more on online marketplaces like eBay and Facebook, which Trader Joe’s previously said was done “without our approval or permission and outside the control of our quality-driven supply chain.”
