Trump meets with retail CEOs to discuss tariffs
President Trump recently met with executives from major retailers, including Walmart, Home Depot, Law and Target, to discuss the impact of his tariffs.

Walmart brings “stores of the future” to most US states in 2025.
The Bentonville, Arkansas-based company has announced plans to update and improve locations in 47 states as part of the “future store” project, which will have more than 650 locations remodeled this year. In addition to the modifications, the retail giant plans to build or convert more than 150 stores, initially said in a January news release.
Walmart said that in addition to streamlining the shopping experience for consumers, the use of energy-efficient equipment and lighting, as well as fast charging stations for electric vehicles, will make new stores more sustainable.

What does the Walmart modification look like?
In an announcement about the modification, Walmart said it will implement changes to its services and infrastructure to make shopping more convenient and enjoyable through “layout improvements, product selection and innovative technologies.” The brand also said the project will generate “tens of thousands of jobs” and involve “investment” in the American community.
Major changes that come to most renovated stores include:
- New look: Large, “bold” signs and displays.
- More Choices: An expansion division with new items.
- Expanded online pickup and distribution: Responding to an increase in online orders.
- Pharmacy layout: Wide passageways, new private screening room and private checkout area.
A list of Walmart locations to remodel in five US states
Walmart shared a list of stores to be converted in five states: North Carolina, Virginia, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. More than 650 locations in 47 states and Puerto Rico will eventually be updated, but a Walmart spokesperson told USA Today they could not share a full list of locations.
This shows 104 of the over 650 Walmart locations being remodeled this year.
