Social Security uncertainty and policy changes are driving more people to submit
With the huge increase in social security applications, retirees are facing financial decisions affected by law and economic concerns in today’s climate.

After a month when Social Security payments arrive later than usual, the June benefits will be hit faster.
Social Security – primarily for older or retired people – usually paying benefits on Wednesdays, with the first wave of payments on the second Wednesday of the month, with the remaining payments coming out on the following Wednesdays.
Last month, the second Wednesday of the month fell to May 14th. This is the most recent date on which payments may occur. Payment timing in June is more standard. According to the Social Security Agency calendar, payments will be issued on the first Wednesday of this month while you have a birthday between the first and tenth of the month.
According to the SSA calendar, beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th will be paid on the third Wednesday (June 18th), while beneficiaries born after the 20th of the month will be paid on the fourth Wednesday (June 25th). Social Security recipients who have begun receiving benefits by May 1997 will be paid on the third day of the month.
Those who have received the supplemental security income checks will not be checked in June, but have had two checks in May due to their calendar quirks.

Social Security Administration’s annual distribution schedules for 2025 and 2026 are available online, so you can check the calendar for budgeting purposes.
Regular Social Security retirement benefits for June will be sent on the regular SSA schedule.
- Wednesday, June 11th: Your date of birth is between the first and ten days of the month.
- Wednesday, June 18th: Your date of birth is from the 11th to the 20th of the month.
- Wednesday, June 25th: Your date of birth is from the 21st to the 31st of the month.
What is SSI?
Supplementary Security Income (SSI) is a benefits program for those with limited income or resources, those over the age of 65, or those with blind or qualified disabilities. According to the SSA website, eligible children with disabilities can also obtain an SSI.
Generally, adults who qualify for SSI do not have monthly wages above $2,019.
Anyone who may be eligible for an SSI can call online, directly at your local Social Security Agency, or by calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) local time from 8am to 7pm local time during work week.

According to the SSA calendar, supplementary security income checks will be sent on the next date in 2025.
