Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie, is missing from Arizona, authorities announced late Wednesday.
Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a press conference that around noon local time on Sunday, February 1st, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that Nancy Guthrie, 84, was missing from her home in suburban Tucson.
“Mr. Guthrie is 84 years old and in poor health, so of course we are very concerned,” Nanos said. “The situation on the ground at the house is of some concern to us as well.”
Nancy Guthrie is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes, according to a missing person flyer. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Office at (520) 351-4900.
In a statement, the “TODAY” show told USA TODAY that Guthrie’s family “appreciates the support, thoughts and prayers.”
“We can confirm that this is a missing person case and the family is working closely with local law enforcement,” the statement said.
Savannah Guthrie previously spoke about her relationship with her mother
Savannah Guthrie has been open about her close relationship with her mother over the years on the “TODAY” show.
“She faced life’s unthinkable challenges without self-pity, with determination, and always with unwavering faith,” Savannah Guthrie said in a eulogy on her mother’s 80th birthday in 2022.
This is a developing story.
