Trump orders troops in Los Angeles as an agent, protesters clash with immigrants
President Trump has ordered 2,000 National Guard forces in Los Angeles to fight violent protesters against immigration enforcement.
WASHINGTON – Progressive Firebrand Sen. Bernie Sanders said he believes President Donald Trump is “quickly moving the country into authoritarianism” after President Donald Trump deployed a 2,000-person national guard to quell immigration protests in Los Angeles.
“This guy wants all power. He doesn’t believe in the constitution. He doesn’t believe in the rule of law. My understanding is that the California governor, the mayor of Los Angeles, did not demand the National Guard, but he believes he has the right to do whatever he wants.
The protest comes when the Trump administration takes more powerful actions to arrest and deport undocumented immigrants. Protesters argue that the administration’s immigration enforcement violates citizens and human rights.
Press Director Karoline Leavitt said in a June 7 statement that Trump had signed a memo deploying security guards “to deal with the lawlessness that was allowed to Fester.” But both California Democratic government Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have criticised the move, saying it will only escalate tensions in the area.
“I think the future of this country is resting with a small number of Republicans in the Senate who know what the constitution is and they are when they stand up for our constitution and the rule of law.”
Meanwhile, Oklahoma Republican Sen. Mark Wayne Marin defended the president’s move to Bash, claiming the situation was uncontrollable.
The Department of Homeland Security said some protesters threw large chunks of broken concrete at officers, slashed tires and threw dirty buildings at them. Several video footage of the protest showed dozens of green security officers with gas masks lined up on the scattered roads with shopping carts that had capsized when a small canister exploded into a gas cloud.
“The president made it very clear. If the city governor or mayor is willing to protect the citizens of his state or city, the president will. The Americans have chosen him to elect him and return law and order to our city,” Marin said.
