Luxury retailer Saks Global files for bankruptcy amid debt crisis
Luxury retailer Saks Global has filed for bankruptcy. The stores remain open today after securing a $1.75 billion funding package and appointing a new CEO.
Discount retailer Ross Dress for Less is opening new stores in 10 states, as well as opening stores for its DD’s discount brand in three states, the company announced this month.
According to the company’s website, 13 Ross and four DD’s Discount stores are already open, including in states where the brand is based, such as Texas, Colorado and California. Ross said in a press release that the store opened between February and March.
This store opening is part of the company’s expansion plan to open 110 stores in 2026. The plan includes 85 Ross stores and 25 DD’s discount stores, the company said, adding that it had strong performance in 2025. Both stores carry footwear, clothing, and household goods.
Last year, Ross opened 90 new stores. As of mid-March, Ross had 1,917 stores in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico, and 366 DD’s discount stores in 23 states, the company said.
“We have expanded Ross Dress for Less in the Mountain, Midwest and Northeast regions, as well as strengthened our presence in key Sunbelt states,” Richard Lietz, Ross Executive Vice President of Real Estate Development, said in a press release. “We added new stores (due to DD discounts) in our core markets of California and Texas, as well as our first store in Utah.”
The company said it will commemorate each opening by donating to a local Boys & Girls Club or First Book, which helps teachers get affordable books in areas of need.

Reitz, Ross’ executive vice president of real estate development, said in a press release that the company plans to open more stores.
“We remain confident in our long-term growth potential and see a clear path to 2,900 Ross stores and 700 (DD Discount) stores across the United States,” he said.
