Videos from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Medicare administrators circulate online as they climb big rocks and hike through the God Garden in Colorado.

In a third minute video posted on Kennedy’s official HHS X page on Wednesday, August 13th, he and Oz will be seen in the Garden of Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In another X-post on Kennedy’s personal page, the secretary writes that he and Oz went on a hike during a break between speeches at the National Governors’ Conference held on July 25-26.

In a public service announcement video, Kennedy talks about how daily hikes benefited his life and improved his focus, clarity and creativity. He says the hike exposes him to “sunlight” and calls him a “drug” as it is a source of vitamin D.

“Fifteen minutes from the outside can change your day and your life. It sharpens your mind, strengthens your body, and restores connections that many of us have lost to each other, nature, and ourselves,” Kennedy wrote in the post. “Thank you to @drozcms for taking part in this hike.”

Around the two-minute and 30-second marks in the video, Kennedy states, “We had to go, this mountain is not going to climb on its own.” The video is cut by 71-year-old Kennedy and as he climbs the mountain, he appears to wobble as he pulls into the boulder. Oz, 65, follows behind him and appears to need Kennedy’s support to reach Boulder.

“So how do you get off?” Oz says in the video before slipping down with Kennedy.

The internet responds

Some people naturally enjoyed the video and called it “SNL skits” or chuckled it as cringe. Others laughed at Kennedy’s jeans. He also wore it during his July hike in Arizona’s swell, images that are widely shared in social media entertainment.

Supporters repeated Kennedy and Oz’s messages about going outside, encouraging others to go for a walk.

Since being appointed HHS secretary by President Donald Trump, Kennedy has faced criticism over changing Covid-19 vaccine recommendations for children and pregnant people, as well as cutting vaccine programs. He is a natural medical and health advocate, improving food quality by eliminating certain dyes and additives.
