The 2025 French Open Men’s Finals will be heading straight for the world’s No. 1 and No. 2.
23-year-old Italian Janik Sinner and 22-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, 22, faced off at Roland Garros on Sunday in the final of the season’s second Grand Slam, playing their first final in Paris between two men born in the 2000s.
French Open Champion Alcaraz reached the final after Lorenzo Musetti retired from the semifinals in the fourth set. Alcaraz is competing for the title of his fifth career grand slam single. Thinner made his third straight major final after beating Novak Djokovic in three sets. Thinner is the youngest since Pete Sampras (1993-94) to win 20 consecutive major matches, and is about to win his third consecutive Grand Slam singles title after winning the 2025 Australian Open and the 2024 US Open.

Thinner provided three months of doping suspension after winning the Australian Open earlier this year. Thinner returned to the competition in May and soon took the Italian Open Finals, becoming the first Italian man to reach a championship match in the tournament since Adriano Panatta in 1978.
Will Thinner win a revenge and win his first French open title and the entire fourth major? Or will Alcaraz be the first player to win a consecutive French open title since his 4-peat compatriot Rafa Nadal from 2017-2020?

In his professional career, Carlos Alcaraz never won a match back from the second set. He is at least one step closer to that historic step first after winning the third set from Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz closed out the service break with an epic 22-shot point, leading Sinner 3-1, looking to grab a new life as he heard his fingers to encourage the crowd.
However, as the Spaniards served the set 5-3, the sinner bouncing just in time on his own break.
Still, somehow, Alkaraz finds a way to return favors and destroys the sinner with love to win the set. The sinner won the 31st consecutive wins in the Grand Slam event.
Jannik Sinner is one set away from his third consecutive Grand Slam title.
An unforced error by Alcaraz at 15-30 in the second game led to Sinner opening early in the second set. After saving one breakpoint, Alkaraz hit the forehand for a long time, giving the sinner a 2-0 edge.
Despite chasing 4-1, Alcaraz refused to give in. After holding the serve to make it 4-2, he began to pump his arms to fire the crowd. He is clearly a fan favorite here at Court Phillip Chatelier.
Probably supported by fan support, Alcaraz returned to serve in the ninth game with a clutch break and paved the way to tiebreaker.
Alcaraz saved one set point in Sinner’s serve but was unable to hold himself up by falling 7-4 on the tiebreaker.
The first game on the prestigious Clay Court was a 12-minute mini marathon where the sinners ultimately held their serves. That would harb the pursuit of what comes to the opening set.
The two heavyweights traded a set of service breaks along the way before the sinner ended the progression surprisingly with Alkaraz beating the first set 5-4.
Officially it took an hour and two minutes to complete. We can participate in classics.
