What happens if something you purchase is recalled? Is it voluntary or mandatory? And what does it mean for you?
Air purifiers sold by Amazon, Shopify, Temu, and TikTok Shop are being recalled over concerns that they could catch fire and cause burns to users.
Airova’s Aroeve air purifiers can “overheat and ignite, posing a risk of fire or burns to consumers,” according to a recall notice posted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Monday, February 9.
Approximately 191,390 purifiers sold between September 2024 and June 2025 on Amazon, Shopify, Temu, and TikTok at prices between $80 and $134 have been recalled, according to the CPSC notice.
Officials said they had received 37 reports of air purifiers overheating, including one report of a fire. CPSC added that there have been no reports of injuries or property damage related to the air purifiers.
Here’s what you need to know about the recalled air purifiers.
Which Airova air purifiers have been recalled?
Black or white Airova Aroeve air purifiers are subject to a recall, according to a CPSC notice. Specifically, the serial number starts with “BN” and was manufactured before July 2025.
According to the notice, “Model, date code, and serial number information is printed on the product label on the bottom of the air purifier.” The recalled model is the MK04.
Officials recommend that anyone using a recalled air purifier in their home immediately stop using it and contact Airova for a free replacement of the air purifier.
