Prince Harry says King Charles III is ‘amazing’ after reunion

There may be “no king”, but Prince Harry is aiming to be America’s Christmas prince.
The Duke of Sussex made a special appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” where he teased the holiday movie. Prince Harry, 41, received a standing ovation after Colbert explained that there was no way he would ever meet a prince, as many Hallmark holiday movies imply. But Prince Harry seemed confused, saying: “I thought this was an audition for ‘The Gingerbread Prince Saves Nebraska Christmas.'”
When Prince Colbert asked why Prince Harry would want to audition for such a movie, the prince referenced President Donald Trump and said that Americans are “obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re obviously obsessed with royalty,” given that “I heard you chose a king.”
Harry is about to audition for a Hallmark movie that doesn’t exist yet, but said he would “do anything.”
“I record self-tapes, I fly myself to auditions, I try to settle frivolous lawsuits with the White House. It’s all the same things people on TV do!” he added. Prince Harry was referring to the controversial $16 million settlement between Trump and CBS parent company Paramount over a defamation lawsuit related to his “60 Minutes” interview with then-Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
When Colbert pointed out that he “didn’t do any of that” to get a career on TV, Harry quipped, “Maybe that’s why you got cancelled.” The cancellation of “The Late Show” in 2026 has been the subject of much criticism from Hollywood and jokes on Colbert’s part.
“I’m sorry, Harry. You seem like a nice enough person, but real life isn’t like TV movies,” Colbert retorted. “I no longer run a non-profit bed and breakfast and candy cane factory with my three beautiful daughters, Holly, Tinsel, and Popcorn String. I’ve become very cynical, at least since the bank foreclosed on me last Christmas Eve, and only a chance encounter with a prince can restore my faith during the holidays.”
The set transformed into a winter wonderland behind them, and Harry hugged Colbert in a pseudo-romantic way.
“Harry, I know you want this, but I’m sorry to say I was testing you. You have the role,” Colbert announced, referring to the duke as “the official ‘Late Show’ Christmas Prince.”
Earlier this year, CBS canceled “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” which was scheduled to end in May 2026. The cancellation and $16 million settlement raised suspicions that Paramount had bowed to political pressure because it needed to obtain a merger with Skydance Media, which was approved by the administration.
