President Trump addresses the nation after National Guard shooting in Washington, D.C.
President Trump posted a video condemning the shooting of two West Virginia National Guard soldiers in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump announced his administration would “permanently suspend” immigration from all “Third World countries” after a National Guard member was killed in an attack in Washington, D.C., allegedly by Afghans.
President Trump announced the move on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 27, in a series of anti-immigration posts on social media, writing that stopping immigration would allow the U.S. to “terminate all millions of illegal immigrants for Biden” and “deport those who are not a net worth of America or incapable of loving our country.”
President Trump said his goal was to achieve a “significant reduction in illegal immigration and the population that destroys social order,” adding, “Only reverse immigration can completely solve this situation. Otherwise, thank you to everyone.”
President Trump did not specify which countries fall under the category of “Third World countries,” a term used to describe poor and least developed countries.
Rahmanullah Rakanwar, 29, the suspect in the Washington D.C. shooting, entered the United States in 2021 as part of a Biden administration-era asylum program created to evacuate Afghans vulnerable to the Taliban’s new rule after the end of the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan and two decades of war in the country. Lakhanwal was later granted asylum by the Trump administration in April.
On Thanksgiving Day, authorities announced that one of the two victims in the shooting, Sarah Beckstrom, 20, of West Virginia, has died. The other victim was Andrew Wolf, 24, also of West Virginia.
In another post on Truth Social, President Trump attached a photo of a plane full of Afghans being airlifted out of Afghanistan.
“This is part of the horrific airlift from Afghanistan. Hundreds of thousands of people flowed into our country completely unvetted and unchecked. We will fix it, but we will never forget what crooked Joe Biden and his thugs did to our country!” Trump said.
In a subsequent post, President Trump accused Americans of being “politically correct but total idiots when it comes to immigration.”
President Trump repeated his false claim that most foreign-born people in the United States come from “prisons, mental hospitals, gangs, or drug cartels.” He also claimed, without evidence, that “patriotic American citizens” fund government programs for immigrants and their children.
“The refugee burden is a major cause of social dysfunction in the United States, something that did not exist after World War II,” Trump added. “Failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, huge deficits, etc.,” he said.
President Trump began criticizing Governor Tim Walz and Representative Ilhan Omar, pointing to the state of Minnesota and claiming that “hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are taking over the once-great state of Minnesota.”
