WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has threatened to sue Trevor Noah after the comedian joked during the Grammy Awards about Trump and former President Bill Clinton visiting sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s private island.

In a post on Truth Social in the early morning hours of February 2, Trump denied ever visiting Epstein’s Little St. James Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been on or near Epstein Island, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statements, I have never been accused of being there, including by the fake news media,” Trump said. “Noah, you’re a complete loser, you better get your facts straight and get it straight ASAP. You’re going to have to send in a lawyer and sue this pathetic, pathetic, talentless, stupid MC for a lot of money.”

Noah, who hosted the 68th Grammy Awards on February 1st, made the remarks in a monologue after congratulating singer Billie Eilish on winning the Grammy Award for Best Song of the Year.

“Every artist wants a Grammy as much as President Trump wants Greenland. That makes sense. So Epstein’s island is gone, so he needs a new island to play with Bill Clinton,” Noah said. “Oh, you said this was your last year. What are you going to do?” the comedian added as the crowd roared.

At the beginning of the show, South African Noah, who has hosted the past six Grammy Awards, attacked Trump again and said this would be his last time hosting the Grammy Awards. “I believe in term limits. I want to set an example for those who watch the show. I want them to go home when their time is up,” he said.

The Grammy Awards were broadcast on CBS. Trump’s latest legal threat comes after Paramount agreed in July to pay Trump $16 million to settle a lawsuit against CBS over the editing of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview. In December 2024, ABC News agreed to donate $15 million to Trump’s future presidential library to settle a lawsuit over anchor George Stephanopoulos’ comments on a civil lawsuit filed against Trump by author E. Jean Carroll.

“Ask Little George Thropadopolis and others how everything went,” Trump wrote in the post. “Also ask CBS! Noah, get ready, I’m going to have some fun with you!”

Noah’s Epstein joke came on the heels of the Justice Department’s release on January 30 of an additional 3 million pages of Epstein investigative documents that referenced a number of powerful people, including Trump, billionaire tech executive Elon Musk and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. The documents do not confirm that Trump or Clinton visited Epstein’s island.

However, Trump has previously accused Clinton and others of visiting Epstein’s island despite a lack of evidence. Epstein said in a 2015 email released by the House Oversight Committee in November that Clinton had never visited the island. “Mr. Clinton was never there, never,” Epstein wrote.

Epstein owned two islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands: Little St. James and Great St. James. Many of Epstein’s alleged trafficking cases of underage girls reportedly occurred at his compound in Little St. James.

Following criticism from Epstein’s survivors, the Justice Department withheld approximately 2.5 million documents in its holdings, citing a variety of privileges, including concerns about victim privacy, depictions of child sexual abuse, an active federal investigation, and legally protected communications between attorney and client.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche refuted any claims that the department was trying to protect the powerful. “We failed to protect President Trump,” Branch said. “We didn’t protect anyone, and we didn’t protect anyone.”
