President Trump threatens Iran, calling supreme leader ‘very concerned’
President Trump has issued a new warning to Iran and its supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei ahead of expected talks over Iran’s nuclear program.
President Donald Trump has supported regime change as the best option in Iran as the United States continues to transfer military assets to the Middle East.
Asked on February 13 if he wanted regime change in Iran, the president said: “That seems like the best thing that can happen.” Trump spoke after a military event at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
“For 47 years, they’ve been talking,” Trump said. “During that time, we lost a lot of lives as they speak. Legs blown off, arms blown off, faces blown off. We’ve been going for a long time.”
Earlier in the day, President Trump also commented on a U.S. aircraft carrier currently being relocated to the region, joining other military assets that have been relocated to the region in recent weeks.
President Trump said, “If we can’t get a deal, we’ll need a deal.” “If you need it, we will provide it for you.”
This is not the first time the president has suggested that it may be his preference to remove Khamenei as Iran’s leader. He made similar comments in a June 22 post on Truth Social.
“It is politically incorrect to use the term ‘regime change,’ but if the current Iranian regime cannot make Iran great again, why not regime change?” the president posted.
President Trump’s latest comments came as U.S. officials seek a deal with Iran over its nuclear program and come weeks after the Iranian government responded to street protests with a brutal crackdown that left thousands dead.
