CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – President Donald Trump said at a rally in Texas on February 27 that he was considering nominating Republican Sen. Ted Cruz to be a future U.S. Supreme Court justice, but Cruz said last month he was not interested.

President Trump introduced Cruz at a rally in Corpus Christi, calling the Texas Republican a “great guy” and joking that he would easily win confirmation because both Democrats and Republicans in Congress want to oust him from the Senate.

“He’s the only person I know who will get 100 percent of the Democratic vote, 100 percent of the Republican vote. They want to get him out of there. He’s a very difficult person, but he’s very good and talented.”
