President Trump said Walmart’s 2025 Thanksgiving prices will drop 25%. is that so?

Date:

When is Thanksgiving? Thursday, November 27, 2025.

President Donald Trump pointed to Walmart’s Thanksgiving dinner as evidence that prices were falling under his leadership, but that claim lacked important context.

After Democrats won a landslide victory in the Nov. 4 election, many campaigned on concerns about costs, but President Trump doubled down on his commitment to affordability.

“We, not the Democrats, have done a great job on affordability,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Nov. 6. “But they said we just lost the election because of affordability.”

President Trump also pointed to holiday meal packages on Truth Social as evidence of falling prices.

“According to Walmart, Thanksgiving dinner in 2025 under Trump will be 25% lower than Thanksgiving dinner in 2024 under Biden,” he wrote on Nov. 6. “My costs are (sic) lower than the Democrats on everything, especially oil and gas! So the Democrats’ ‘affordability’ issue is dead! Stop the lies!!!”

Here’s what you need to know about his claims.

“Walmart’s Thanksgiving bundle this year also includes new items that weren’t in last year’s bundle. All the media nonsense doesn’t change the fact that addressing Joe Biden’s inflation crisis is a day-one priority for President Trump. We’ve already lowered prices on essentials like gasoline and eggs and cooled inflation to 2.5% annually, half the average rate of inflation under Joe Biden,” White House Press Secretary Khush Desai said in a statement. said in a statement to TODAY.

“As the administration’s strong economic policies continue to take effect, Americans can look forward to real wages continuing to rise, investment and jobs continuing to flow into the United States, and Joe Biden’s lackluster economy to become a distant memory.”

Inflation has increased in recent months. In September, the interest rate was at a relatively moderate level of 3%, but it has exceeded the US Federal Reserve’s target interest rate of 2%.

Poll shows Americans think President Trump is not doing enough on the economy

President Trump’s average approval rating hit a new low this week after months of low but stable ratings, according to the New York Times and RealClearPolitics aggregator.

Some polls show that support for his economic response is declining.

In an NBC News poll conducted Oct. 24-28, nearly two-thirds of respondents said the Trump administration was doing poorly on the economy and the cost of living, making it a major issue in returning Trump to the White House, according to NBC News.

More than seven in 10 respondents rate the current economic situation as “bad” or “very bad,” and 47% of respondents identify the economy and cost of living as the most important issue facing the country, according to a CNN/SSRS poll released Nov. 3. A majority of respondents (61%) said that President Trump’s policies have worsened the domestic economic situation.
