“We introduced hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs,” Trump told partygoers.
But affordability remains a major concern for many Americans. Democrats took advantage of consumer cost fears to win consecutive elections last year. The tariff delay means any increases will be delayed until after the midterm elections, which are expected to revolve around cost of living issues.
Economists have warned that the tariffs could lead to higher inflation, which hit 3% in September but fell to 2.7% in November.
