President Trump praises Mamdani after meeting at the White House
President Donald Trump said he would feel “very comfortable” in New York after meeting with Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani.
President Donald Trump reinforced the image of a close meeting with New York Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani in a series of images of the two posted on social media.
Trump posted four photos of the two in various parts of the White House, including in front of a painting of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the founder of the New Deal.
Supporters of the mayor-elect had feared a televised ambush on the high-stakes meeting between Trump and Mamdani on November 21st. Instead, Trump lavished praise on Mamdani and declined the opportunity to criticize him on camera.
“I met with a very reasonable person,” Trump said. “No one really wants to see New York great again. I think he can bring New York back. … Can he make it better than ever? If he can do that, I’ll be out rooting for him.”
